Canal Days canoe race participants sought

The Spencerport Canal Days canoe race will be held on Sunday, July 25 at 1 p.m. The canoe race committee is looking for interested organizations, businesses, and individuals to participate. Call 352-2124 to register. Registration is $25 per canoe.

The following prizes will be awarded: 1st place - $200, 2nd place - $50, Most Colorful - $50, Most Creative - $50, Most Patriotic - $50.

This "fun race" is a great way for businesses to showcase themselves to the community, according to Eric Bacon, Ogden Parks and Recreation Director and race coordinator. It is also a great way for people to demonstrate their "artistic" abilities and sense of community spirit, he said. No prior canoeing experience is necessary.
