Target Archery program offered
A target archery program for youth and adults is now being organized by Hilton-Parma Recreation that will mirror the same shooting event that was held at the Senior Olympic Games in 2003 and will be held at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. Participants will shoot several arrows at a stationary target at each of the following distances: 40, 50 and 60 yards. The goal is to increase hand/eye coordination while gaining exercise and encouraging fitness as a life-long activity. Former professional archer, Bert Marlatt, is the instructor; and he will be assisted by several other experienced adult archers.
The six-week program will be held at the VFW Post Lodge at 550 Peck Road on Saturday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. beginning on June 21. The cost is $25 per participant for six classes, and includes a program T-shirt and six new aluminum arrows. Registration can be completed at the Recreation Office in the Hilton Village Community Center and information is available by calling 392-9030.
