State transportation commissioner honors employees

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Commissioner Joseph H. Boardman presented 58 NYSDOT employees with the Commissioner's Award of Excellence, honoring individual and team accomplishments, innovations and acts of valor. Among those honored were nine individuals from the Rochester area. The Commissioner's Award of Excellence has been presented to NYSDOT employees since 1992.

"I am honored to once again recognize State Department of Transportation employees who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence, forged ahead with new innovations, and distinguished themselves through acts of bravery, heroism and selflessness," Boardman said. "These awards recognize those who have gone above and beyond their normal duties to improve our transportation system and make a difference in communities across New York State."

Donald R. Stott of Fairport was recognized for outstanding career excellence, leadership, dedication to departmental values and goals, and acting as mentor to fellow workers.

Also honored was the Route 251 Bridge Team for their outstanding work planning, design and supervision of the construction of the Route 251 bridge over Oatka Creek in the Village of Scottsville. This project also received honors from the American Public Works Association and Excellence in Engineering sponsored by NYSDOT. Team members include Daniel Schwind and Stephen Beauvais of Hilton, John Picard of Hamlin, Melissa Rowe and Jennifer Lochner of Avon, William Robinson, Dawn Jindra and W. Timothy Davison of Rochester.
