Lakeside Memorial Hospital receives donation from Twig Association
The LMH Twig Association recently donated eight bassinets to the maternity department. They are valued at $13,521. These oak bassinets replace the existing 30-year-old bassinets. The new bassinets are easily transportable and have storage space for baby toiletries.
"It is difficult for hospitals to continually upgrade equipment in all departments. With the generous support of the Twig Association we are able to enhance the care provided to our patients. We appreciate their commitment to ensuring high quality health care services to the patients in our community," Charles W. Smith, CEO of Lakeside Health System said.
The Twig Association also held a "baby shower" for the OB Department in March. All Twigs participated by donating hand made and newly purchased baby items to be given to moms without the resources to purchase new items. A "baby shower" will be held annually. Any one wishing to contribute new, unopened baby items can contact Barb Windus, president of the Twig Association, at 637-4375. The Twig Association was recently recognized at Lakeside's Annual Twig Appreciation Luncheon. In addition to monetary support, Twig members donate their time and energy operating the Gift Shop, providing the artwork throughout the campus, maintaining the courtyard, knitting hats for newborns and creating tray favors for patients. Fundraising efforts include the bird seed sale, Twig Tree of Lights, tour of homes and annual yard sale, along with many other fundraisers.
