Matthew J. Dudek, a junior majoring in French and history at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has been named to the dean's list for the 2004 spring semester. A graduate of Brockport High School, he is the son of Gary and Mary Ann Dudek of Brockport.

Several area residents have been named to honor rolls for the spring semester at SUNY Oswego.


On the Oswego president's list are Joseph Luciano of Hamlin, a senior technology education major; David A. Cocquyt of Hilton, a sophomore technology education major; and Rebecca S. Mance of Spencerport, a senior elementary education major.

On the dean's list are: from Churchville, Hannah L. Clement, a senior human development major; from Hamlin, Eric J. Chase, a junior technology education major; Catherine E. Chuma, a sophomore public justice major; and Ashley M. Rath, a junior studio art major; from Hilton, Jason M. Barton, a senior secondary education major; Andrew P. Barton, a senior history major; Andrianne M. Knapp, a junior studio art major; Russell S. Korn, a senior secondary education major; and Jessica L. Maier, a junior journalism major; from Kendall, Renee B. Pszyk, a sophomore zoology major; from North Chili, David W. Johnson, a senior chemistry major; from Spencerport, Christopher W. Jones, a senior technology education major; Erin L. Mawn, a senior English major; and John C. Perry, a senior broadcasting and mass communication major.

The president's and dean's lists represent the academic top 26.5 percent of the Oswego student body. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the president's list, the top 6 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the dean's list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.


Morrisville State College has announced dean's list students from the spring 2004 semester. Students from this area include: Gregory G. Schwind of Hilton, who is majoring in engineering science; Stacey E. Waters of Hilton, who is a liberal arts major; and Lester A. Wise of Hamlin. He is a student majoring in diesel technology.


Aaron M. Bailey has earned an associate's of science degree in film through Full Sail Technological College in Florida. His parents are Lawrence and Laurianne Le Blanc of Parma. Bailey attended Hilton High School and the Norman Howard School.


Rebecca L. King, a Spencerport High School graduate, has graduated cum laude from SUNY Cortland. She earned a degree in adolescence English education and was named to the dean's list every semester for the past two years.


Jake Moskal, son of Dave and Edie Moskal of Ogden, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester at the State University of New York at Albany. He is majoring in economics and philosophy.


Amber Dahlman, daughter of Hank and Marcia Dahlman of Spencerport, recently graduated from Monroe Community College. A graduate of Nazareth Academy, she received her associate's degree in liberal arts and sciences. In the fall Dahlman will participate in the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, Florida. She will continue her education in the winter semester majoring in sociology.


Megan Dahlman, daughter of Hank and Marcia Dahlman of Spencerport, has been named to the Patriot League Women's Basketball Academic Honor Roll. To be named to this honor, an athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in their participating sport. Dahlman played basketball for College of the Holy Cross.


Michael B. Burroughs of Hamlin, Kristen E. Plumeau of Henrietta and Sandra E. Czelusniak of Spencerport were all named to the spring 2004 dean's list at Binghamton University.


Darren Eustance graduated in May from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. with a master's degree in political management. Eustance, a 1999 graduate of Brockport High School and a 2002 graduate of SUNY Geneseo, currently lives in Arlington, Virginia. He is the son of Dennis and Duggann Eustance of Inverness, Florida, formerly of Hamlin.


Megan E. Bush, a graduate of Niagara University with a B. F. A. in theatre studies, is now pursuing masters degrees in elementary and special education at Niagara University.

She has been attending the Summer Educational Study Abroad Program at the University of Maastricht, in Maastricht, Netherlands. She is also participating in a special program at the American College of Thessaloniki in Thessaloniki, Greece, teaching English Language and Theatre.

Bush is a 1999 graduate of Brockport High School and is the daughter of Perry and Luise Bush of Hamlin.


The State University of New York at Potsdam recently presented the Jessie J. McNall Award to Richard W. Marvin of Spencerport.

McNall, who was professor emerita of science, served as department of science chair for many years prior to her retirement in 1946. She established an endowed fund with the Potsdam College Foundation to award sophomores for excellence in science, especially if preparing for teaching.


The following students, enrolled in the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University, were named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester.

Jameson Blandford of Brockport, a junior majoring in systems and information science and Scott Snyder of Brockport, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering.


Matthew McGrath of Hilton was named to the dean's list for the spring 2004 semester at Syracuse University. McGrath is a junior majoring in public relations.


Shannon Lynn Granville of Spencerport was named to the dean's list at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, for the fall 2003 semester.

Granville received a bachelor of arts degree in history cum laude from the College of William and Mary in May. She also was awarded the William Elbert Fraley Award in recognition of achieving highest honors on her honors thesis. She will be attending the London School of Economics and Political Science in the fall. She is the daughter of William and Jacquelyn Granville.


Richard W. Marvin of Spencerport was honored for his academic accomplishments at SUNY Potsdam. Marvin was named a departmental scholar in the physics department.


Michelle Keenan of Spencerport received a SUNY Potsdam Scholar certificate during the Crane School of Music Honors Convocation.


The following area students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University were named to the dean's list for the Spring 2004 semester.

Ryan Hickey of Spencerport, a senior majoring in history and social studies education; Elizabeth Reitter of Hamlin, is a sophomore majoring in political science; and Matthew McGrath of Hilton, a junior majoring in economics and public relations.


The following students were named to the SUNY Potsdam's spring 2004 dean's list:

  • Richard W. Marvin, of Spencerport. He is a physics and science education major and is the son of Richard Marvin of Spencerport.
  • Jessica Alice Mowers, of Bergen, is an art studio major. She is the daughter of Gary Mowers of Bergen.

The following students were named to the SUNY Potsdam's spring 2004 president's list:

  • Jenna Marie Dandrea, of Spencerport. She is a psychology major and is the daughter of Daniel and Wendy Dandrea of Spencerport.
  • Sean Michael Dray, of Spencerport. He is majoring in music education and performance music.
  • Holland Elizabeth Gursslin of Brockport. She is a music education major.
  • Michelle Anne Keenan, of Spencerport. She is majoring in musical studies and mathematics. Keenan is the daughter of Steve and Terri Keenan of Spencerport.
  • Christina Rose Kesselring, of Spencerport, is a psychology major. She is the daughter of Mark Kesselring of Spencerport.
  • Laura Michelle Osgood, of Spencerport, is a music education and performance music major. She is the daughter of Lori Osgood of Spencerport.

Air Force Senior Airman Wendy A. Hermes is one of 45 members of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West based at Travis Air Force Base, Fairfield, California, who participated in the state funeral of former U.S. President Ronald W. Reagan.

The concert band members performed at the interment ceremony on Friday, June 11 at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. They performed prelude and postlude music as well as ceremonial music, with accompaniment of the U.S. Army Chorus.

Members of the band squadron were chosen to represent the military at the ceremony commemorating the life of the former president because of their superior musicianship.

Hermes, a flute regional band journeyman, is the daughter of Glenn A. Hermes of Webster Road, Spencerport, and Sally A. Sidney of Knollwoods Terrace, Roswell, Georgia.


United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal David Graham, son of Christopher and Cindy Graham of Brockport, and a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School, has been deployed from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Iraq as part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

Graham is serving his country in the global war on terrorism with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment attached to the 1st Marine Division now operating in Western Iraq. He is an assistant automatic rifleman in his fire team and a trained sharpshooter.


SSG. Chad Stern, a 1995 graduate of Spencerport High School, is serving in Iraq. The son of Fred and Paula Colaprete of Spencerport, and Robert Stern, he will become a father in July, according to his mother.
