Brockport's Navy Club receives $12,500 grant
The Navy Club of Brockport has received a $12,500 grant to support its daily operating expenses, programs for veterans and renovation of their office building.
The funds were secured by Assemblyman Charles H. Nesbitt and Senator George Maziarz. Nesbitt said, "I am very pleased to secure this grant that will fund important programs and improvements for the Navy Club. The club not only offers important services to sea veterans such as transportation to doctors' appointments, but it also gives back to the community; sponsoring such things as food and clothing drives."
Maziarz echoed Nesbitt's comments, adding that, "This funding will allow the Navy Club to continue serving the needs of our area's veterans. The club's dedication to the community is unquestionable and unwavering. It is an honor to help those veterans give something back."
Navy Club Director David Yeaw said the money will enable the club to further assist veterans and also make renovations to the facility. The building renovations will be performed by local reservists on weekend duty and volunteers.
The Navy Club is one of five located throughout New York state. It offers a broad range of services to veterans of the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and the National Guard and Reserves.
