Troop 90 holds Court of Honor, award Eagle rank

Boy Scout Troop 90 held a Court of Honor on May 25 to recognize Timothy F. Boerschlein for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Friends and family were in attendance at the First Baptist Church in Chili to see Boerschlein receive the highest award in Boy Scouting.

Boerschlein was escorted to the front of the church along the Eagle Trail by Eagle Scouts Alan Mattice and Ted Rowe. Life Scout Andrew Bostick was Master of Ceremony. Fred Steele, Boerschlein's grandfather, led the invocation. Opening remarks were made by Donna Bostick. Scoutmaster Keith Wimer rededicated the Scout Oath and then declared Boerschlein an Eagle Scout. Assistant Scoutmaster Tim Rowe was the guest speaker.

Letters of Recognition and Certificates of Honor were awarded to Boerschlein. Riga Town Supervisor Tim Rowe presented Boerschlein with a plaque from the town to commemorate the accomplishment.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a scout must earn 21 merit badges, hold leadership positions within the troop, and complete an approved community service project. Boerschlein has earned 30 merit badges since joining Troop 90 in 1997, and is presently an assistant scoutmaster for his troop. To fulfill his Eagle requirements, Boerschlein gathered a group of scouts and adults at the Chestnut Ridge Elementary School Nature Center. He led the group in the revitalization of the area by removing debris, spreading mulch on trails, and building three 12-foot-long footbridges over low areas in the trail system.

Boerschlein, 18, graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in June. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Boerschlein plans on attending Alfred State College to study Construction Management/Engineering Technology this September. He is the son of Barb and Eric Boerschlein.
