Summer reading adds up at Seymour Library
The theme for this year's summer reading program was "New York State is Read, White and Blue." The 277 children ages preschool through entering fifth grades who participated in the program read 110,911 minutes with a reading chain that wraps around the Children's Room four times.
The community and Friends of the Seymour Library supported the program through donations.
Seymour Library also held an essay contest for children ages 6-11 years old. The winner was Grace Adams, 9, who won the title Librarian for the Day. Grace has made a list of books in her room, not exactly like the Dewey Decimal system, but similar. She spent the day with Cathy Henderson, children's librarian, on Friday, August 6 and helped at Reference Desk, Circulation Desk and with the summer reading party.
