Roberts Wesleyan hires women's basketball coach
Candy VanBuskirk has been hired as the women's basketball coach at Roberts Wesleyan College. A former standout basketball player at Roberts in the 90s, she is the fifth coach in Roberts history, Mike Faro, athletic director announced.
VanBuskirk comes to Roberts from Moody Bible Institute where she was women's basketball coach and an instructor of Lifetime Fitness and Sports Ministries. She was also an assistant coach at the University of Miami-Ohio where some of her key responsibilities included recruiting and player development.
As a player, VanBuskirk was an integral part of the Raiders between 1992 to 1994. Faro welcomes her addition to the Raider coaching staff. "I'm very pleased to have Candy returning to Roberts," Faro said. "She was an outstanding college player who competed with a great deal of intelligence and heart. I expect the same dedication and effort she gave as a player will show in her new role as head women's coach at Roberts."
In addition to her coaching responsibilities, she will act as the sports outreach coordinator and teach in the physical education department. She moves to Rochester with her husband, Todd, and two children, Dawson and Seal.
