Peddler's Market offers unique items in fundraiser sale
For more than 30 years, the Peddler's Market in Brockport has drawn the crowds to the grounds of the Morgan Manning House. "I think it originally started out as a novelty," Historian Eunice Chesnut, historian of the House said. "Now people keep coming back because of the impressive inventory of items for sale.
More than 40 vendors will be on hand with their wares including: hand painted items, antiques and collectibles, flowers, hosta plants, wool products, produce, vintage clothing, textiles, china, Asian robes, fudge, jewelry, Victorian chalk figures, furniture and much more. The perennially popular "junque" sale will be held in the carriage house. There will be raffle baskets and a quilt raffle going on throughout the day.
For the first time in the event's history, a chicken barbecue will be held during the day. There will also be hot dogs and hamburgers and a bake sale available for hungry patrons. Entertainment will feature the Ballistic Chicks combo band.
The Market is a way for the Morgan Manning House to raise funds for the maintenance of the house, Chesnut said.
The September 11 event is provided through the Western Monroe Historical Society and admission is free. The Peddler's Market will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Morgan Manning House is located at 151 Main Street Brockport.
