Hamilton taught music in the Hilton Central School District for nine years and worked on the decision making team that created the Quest School in 1995 which became one of the first teacher-led schools of choice in a suburban district. Hamilton and his wife, Kelly, a voice teacher and professional singer, and their young son reside in Irondequoit.

"My vision," said Hamilton, "is to help the JHS continue on the road from a good school to a great school! We are poised to do great things this year. In the coming weeks I will go on a listening tour of the school. I'll sit down with everyone I can; students, parents, and staff members to get their perspective on where we've been, where we are, and where we need to be. It will provide me with a tremendous window in the people, the concerns and the potential that we share."
