ARC of Orleans banquet to have military flavor
Assemblyman Charles H. Nesbitt, of Albion, will give the feature introduction for the Arc of Orleans Signature Series and Gala's keynote speaker, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Oliver North.
North is a combat decorated Marine and a New York Times best-selling author. He coordinated America's anti-terrorism efforts in the 1980s as well as taking part in some daring rescue missions.
Nesbitt, an Orleans County native and head of the Republican minority caucus in the State Assembly, served with the 57th Assault Helicopter Company during the Vietnam War. Serving a decade with the armed forces, Nesbitt earned the Air Medal with 26 oak leaf clusters.
"We are especially honored to have two war heroes with us in a single evening, bringing messages that are timely and stirring," said Robert E. Waters, chairman of the ARC Endowment Committee. The Arc of Orleans serves hundreds of individuals with disabilities.
The event will be held on September 17 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Rochester. It is the third annual dinner to support the new Arc of Orleans Endowment Fund. For ticket information call 589-5516, ext. 228.
