Collaboration makes two
Fun on the Farm festivals possible

Families can experience farming in the past and present during two fall weekends made possible by a collaboration between Genesee Country Village & Museum and Springdale Farm. The first event, held at the Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M) on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., features farm animals, children's crafts, butter churning, children's chores, egg gathering, cheese making and root cellar storage demonstrations and additional attractions all aimed to give visitors a better understanding of farm life in the 19th-century. The museum is located in Mumford, 20 miles southwest of Rochester. Festival activities are included in the museum's regular admission. For information call 585-538-6822 or visit www.gcv.org.

Springdale's Fun on the Farm Festival will highlight modern agriculture. Visitors can bring their GCV&M ticket stub to the farm on Saturday, September 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a $1 discount. Festival activities include robotic milking center tours, large farm equipment to climb on, a petting zoo, "Agriculture in the Classroom" demonstrations, water table programs, aquaponics display, bee keepers, "F.S.I." - a Food Safety Investigation, mini-horse drawn carriage rides and pond fishing (bring your own pole). Festival admission is $5 per carload. Springdale Farm is located at 696 Colby Street in Ogden. For information call 585-352-5320 or visit www.springdalefarm.org.
