Ogden Historical Society
to hear "Ghost Ships Return" update
Amateur historian Jim Fischer will return to the Ogden Historical Society's museum at the Pulver House on Sunday, September 12, to update the group on his research about Ghost Ships of Lake Ontario.
While boating with his family on Lake Ontario a few years ago, he overheard conversation on his marine radio that piqued his curiosity. This led to the quest for information on two ships, the Hamilton and the Scourge, which were involved in the War of 1812, and are in respose at the bottom of Lake Ontario.
In the presentation, Fischer also includes some background on the national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner," which was written by Francis Scott Key, at the time of the War of 1812.
The program, which is open to the public, will begin at 2 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum at 568 Colby Street in Ogden.
