GED prep and adult
education testing class offered in Holley
Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES will offer the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) at the Holley Community Free Library, 86 Public Square, on Wednesday, September 15 at 4:30 p.m. The TABE is designed to measure achievement in reading, mathematics, language, spelling and writing. These scores are used as benchmarks to determine which literacy class is most appropriate for adult student placement. The test is free.
Adults interested in improving reading and/or math skills, preparing to earn a General Education Diploma (GED), learning English as a second language or sharpening their work skills are encouraged to take the test as the first step in participating in the BOCES 2 Literacy Program. The BOCES 2 Center for Workforce Development (CWD) conducts its Literacy Program at the Holley Library for adults age 21 or older without a high school diploma or who have a high school diploma, but scored at or below a ninth-grade reading or math level after taking the TABE. Youth adults ages 18-21 who live in one of the BOCES 2 component districts may also participate.
