Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge issues trapping permits
Permits to trap on Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge will be available October 1. The refuge is open to both marsh and upland trapping within state seasons. All trappers must obtain a trapping permit at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters, 1101 Casey Road, Alabama. A maximum of 50 marsh and 50 upland permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Marsh permits are $50; upland permits are free. No permits will be issued after trapping season starts. Trappers must show a valid trapping license and will be required to complete a monthly report of their trapping activities. Failure to do so will void the permit. Any trapper who did not turn in trapping reports last year will be denied a permit this year.
The refuge office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
