Quilt show winners announced

Winners of the coveted Viewers' Choice Awards at North Chili Quilt Show were: Janet Root for her bed quilt, "A Step Beyond." It incorporated intricate hand and machine piecing, appliqué and quilting in autumn colors. The wall hanging award went to Laurel A. Frenette for her #27 art quilt based on an art nouveau line drawing showing a peacock and a person highlighted with beading, appliqué, thread painting and other embellishments on a black background.

The 114 beautiful quilts on display were an inspiration to the many visitors there to take classes, meet friends and enjoy the tea room. Area sewers donated more than 250 baby quilts for at-risk children.
