Brockport VFD kicks off Fire Prevention Week
The Brockport Volunteer Fire Department will be kicking off Fire Prevention Week with a special dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, October 2 at 2 p.m. at their new training facility on Owens Road at the railroad.
There will be a short demonstration of the burn building after the ceremony. They will be dedicating their new live fire training building purchased with Federal Emergency Management (FEMA) Grant Funds. This new facility allows firefighters to train on live fire in a controlled atmosphere without having to travel to the county training site, saving both time and travel expenses.
"We are indebted to the Allied Group for use of the grounds, to Senator Chuck Schumer, Congressman Tom Reynolds and Senator Hillary Clinton for their support of the FEMA Funding that made this facility possible," Christopher R. Martin, public information officer said.
