Dates for local voter registration set
The Orleans County Board of Elections has scheduled voter registration at all town halls within Orleans County on Friday, October 8, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday, October 9, from 2 until 9 p.m. Local registration gives residents the opportunity to register to vote for the November 2 general election and future elections.
Registrations received in person at the Board of Elections by October 8, or those postmarked no later than October 8 and received no later than October 13, will be eligible to vote in the November 2 Election. October 8 is also the last day for the Board of Elections to receive a change of party enrollment to be effective for the year 2005.
Notice of an address change from any registered voter who moves within the county must be received by the Board of Elections no later than October 13.
Commissioners Helen Zelazny and Dennis Piedimonte said that applications for absentee ballots are available from the Board of Elections. If any voter or a member of the family will be out of the county on election day, or if they are ill or physically disabled, they may contact the County Board of Elections to apply for an absentee ballot. Absentee ballot applications returned by mail to the Board must be postmarked by October 26. The last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot is November 1.
The Board of Elections office is located on the first floor of the County Administration Building at 14016 State Route 31, Albion. If you have any questions stop in or call 589-3274.
