Wal-Mart not on agenda
As of Thursday, September 23, Wal-Mart had not been added to the Town of Sweden's Planning Board agenda for the Monday, September 27 meeting.
Representatives of Wal-Mart and planning board members recently discussed the status of the application for the construction of a 203,500 square foot supercenter. Wal-Mart officials were in the process of completing a final environmental impact study and would complete a transportation study for submission to the New York State Department of Transportation soon.
Wal-Mart's updated plans call for the use of additional property to the west side of the site. The added property would provide more drainage capacity and green space. A previously proposed pharmacy kiosk and a drive through have been eliminated as has some of the outside signage.
Board members will review the environmental and transportation studies before making any determination on the construction.
Wal-Mart representatives had indicated they wish to be added to the agenda for the September 27 meeting but, as of deadline, they had not submitted a formal request.
