Cadets shut out Batavia

Celia Patarino and Patty Nellis each scored twice as Hilton blanked Batavia 7-0 in girl's soccer.

Patarino began the onslaught in the fourth minute when Casey Oyer kicked a deflected corner kick back into the box and on the foot of Patarino for her first goal of the season. Just five minutes later, Angela Picardo stole the ball at midfield and dribbled around three defenders before scoring her first goal of the season.

The Cadets made it 3-0 in the 15th minute when Casey Reinhardt crossed the ball from the right corner through three sets of legs and to the far side where Nellis knocked it in.

The goals continued to come in the second half as Patarino scored off a corner kick in the 47th minute and Reinhardt knocked in her own rebound in the 70th minute for a 5-0 lead. Mary Leo fed Lindsay Ames for an easy chip goal in the 75th minute and the Cadets wrapped up the scoring in the 84th minute when Nellis knocked the ball in off a Batavia defender for the 7-0 final.

Becca Ritchie and Amanda Hayward combined for the shutout in goal as Hilton improved to 4-2 with the non-league victory.
