Northwest Vipers baseball team announces tryouts

The Northwest Vipers Baseball Team is a new team being formed for 13-year-old players in Greece, Hilton and Northwest Monroe County. The team will compete in a Monroe County Travel League and numerous independent tournaments in 2005.

Players who are seeking an opportunity to compete at a high level of baseball and advance skills and sense of team play are being sought. The organizational philosophy of the team is to give all participants the opportunity to compete at a high level and attain the skills and repetition needed to prepare for high school programs in a fun, team first environment.

Tryouts will be held as follows:

•Fielding, pitcher and catcher evaluations: Saturday, October 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Greece Arcadia High School (rain date October 10 from 2 to 5 p.m.) and

•Hitting evaluations: Wednesday, October 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Battery (1520 Spencerport Road).

To be eligible a player cannot turn 14 before August 1, 2005 and must reside in Greece, Hilton, Brockport or Northwest Monroe County; attendance at both days is required. There is a non-refundable $15 tryout fee to cover field and hitting facility fees.
