Byron-Bergen conducts safety drills
The Byron-Bergen Central School District conducted a "Stay As You Are" drill for high school students and staff on September 28 while Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies practiced with the K-9 unit.
"Dogs are used in police work for a number of purposes, from drug and weapons detection to human search and rescue. Our goal is to be prepared for any situation, and the only way to do that is to practice under a variety of circumstances," said Dave Pescrillo, Byron-Bergen High School principal.
On October 16 the district will conduct a mass catastrophe drill by simulating the collapse of bleachers at the soccer stadium. The purpose is to identify weaknesses in procedures before a real emergency.
