Ranger swimmers sweep breaststroke in comeback win
Jacklyn Cowles, Lara Spiegel and Elyse Benamat finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard breaststroke as Spencerport overcame a seven-point deficit to defeat Churchville-Chili 97-88 in girl's swimming. Cowles won the event in 1:13.16 and also took first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:06.55. Annah Grobengeiser was the other double winner for the Rangers with top finishes in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.73 and the 100-yard freestyle in 59.19.
The 400-yard freestyle relay was the meet clinching race as Grobengeiser, Cowles, Maryanne Eisenberg and Lena Ann Sanfilipo took first. Earlier Cowles, Eisenberg, Grobengeiser and Kayla McNall were first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sanfilipo also won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.02.
For the Saints, Erin Emrich was a double-winner taking the 200-yard individual medley in 2:32.10 and the 500-yard freestyle in 6:07.95. Stephanie Toth and Tanya Lindermath finished 1-2 in the diving competition and Kelly Emrich won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.93.
