Audiences get a dollop of Shaw at Taste of Theatre series
The Department of Theatre at SUNY College at Brockport's first "Taste of Theatre" series for the 2004-2005 season entitled "A Close Shavian," will take place on Wednesday, October 20 at 5:15 p.m. at the Tower Fine Arts Center, Holley Street, Brockport. It is free to the general public.
Actor Jeff Steitzer will discuss the challenges and joys of performing works by George Bernard Shaw. Steitzer will be performing the role of Tom Broadbent in Geva Theatre Center's upcoming production of John Bull's Other Island, Shaw's 100-year-old comedy about Anglo-Irish relations, running through November 14.
The series offers conversations with theatre professionals on topics of interest to both theater practitioners and audience members. The discussions also offer an opportunity for a question-and-answer session.
Other "Taste of Theatre" events scheduled for this season are "From The Ground Up: Originating a Character in a New Work" on November 10; "Sound and Fury: The Art and Craft of Sound Design for the Theatre" on March 9, 2005; and "Blood and Guts: Violence and Stage Properties" on April 27, 2005.
