Ogden Bears cheerleaders earn trophies
On Saturday, October 9, the Western New York Pop Warner tournament was held at the Blue Cross Arena. All three of the competitive-level teams from the Ogden Bears, from Spencerport, came ready to put on their best possible performance.
The organization received this year's Spirit Award. The award reflects the girls' outstanding spirit and attitude toward their opponents throughout the season. "We are very proud that we were chosen to receive this honor. This award is definitely the result of having great cheerleaders and great coaches working together to succeed," Denise VanHouten, cheer director said. Both the Jr. Pee Wee team (ages 8-10) ad Jr. Midget team (ages 10-13) took third place in their divisions. The Pee Wee team (ages 9-12) brought home a first place trophy in their division. All three of these teams will advance to the state level tournament in Albany on October 24 where they will compete against teams from around New York.
