Winners chosen in Walk, Bike, Brockport Contest

Judges Helen Smagorinsky, Police Chief Daniel Varrenti, and Brockport Mayor Josephine Matela had a very difficult time choosing the winners from among the 123 entries in the Walk, Bike, Brockport Action Group's pedestrian/bicycle safety poster contest. Students in the Ginther, Barclay and Hill Schools depicted scenes of children riding bicycles wearing the proper head-gear, pedestrians looking both ways before crossing the street, and many other safety rules being practiced by student walkers and bike riders.

Chief Varrenti was so impressed with all of the entries that he supplied police badge replica stickers to be presented to all entrants of the contest. Each first place winner received a $20 gift certificate to the Liftbridge Book Shop. Each second place winner received a $10 gift certificate to the Liftbridge Book Shop.

Winners were: First Grade - 1st place Emily Bark, 2nd place, Nick Friedo; Second Grade - 1st place Che Young, 2nd place Megan Sheehan; Third Grade - 1st place Courtney Rombaut, 2nd place Shelby Perry; Fourth Grade - 1st place Alyssa Fisher, 2nd place Dan Viscardi; Fifth Grade - 1st place Camille Tharp, 2nd place Brandi Baxter.

Winning posters will be displayed in the Brockport Village Offices and the Sweden Community Center.
