Exploring the World of Arachnids
Churchville Elementary students explored the world of Arachnids during a Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Project ADEPT (A Diversified Enrichment Program for the Talented) workshop. SUNY Brockport professor Jana Penders together with BOCES 2 resource teacher Elaine Berner presented the hands on workshop to 30 students. The students learned the characteristics of spiders, how they obtain food and the roles which 34,000 species of spiders play in our world ecosystem. Above, Jake Vaccaro (l to r), Karli O'Neill, Sean Ranzenbach and Beth Ohman search for spiders to study with BOCES 2 gifted and talented resource teacher Elaine Berner at the Sprucewood Nature Center located behind Churchville Elementary School.
