Holiday Gift Angel Program launched for 2004 season

The goal of a unique program at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport is simple - to collect enough dollars to provide every needy child in the Brockport-Clarkson-Hamlin area with a book for the holidays.

Shoppers at the village book shop will be asked if they wish to add $1 to their purchases for the Holiday Gift Angel Program. Donors can also contact the shop directly at 637-2260 to make a donation over the phone using a credit card.

Now in its 10th year, the Holiday Gift Angel Program begins during Children's Book Week November 13 and continues through December 24. The funds collected are used to buy books at a discount for the Brockport and Hamlin Toy Shelves. Local children's service groups such as Girl Scouts and student councils help select the books. Many of the groups also collect their own money to buy books for needy children. Last year, over 500 books were made available to local families.
