Steeple installed at new St. Paul Lutheran Church
With almost no wind and on a beautiful fall day a steeple was installed on St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hilton November 16. Put in place on Tuesday morning, a crowd of about thirty people, including school children, watched as a crane gently lifted the steeple to the top of its housing. The steeple consists of a metal substructure and a fiberglass shell. The total roof mounting adds about 30 feet to the height of the new church building. The 1.7 million dollar structure, being built by Horning Construction of Rochester, should be completed by Easter 2005, weather permitting. A formal dedication is planned for April 10. Eleven stained glass windows from the old church have been refurbished and will be installed behind insulating glass windows in the new church. Photographs by Walter Horylev.
