Making government more accessible to the public is the idea behind the taping and televising of board meetings.
Village of Brockport Mayor Josephine Matela said the board tried taping meetings last year but had equipment problems which hindered them. This year, those problems have been sorted out and the village has been taping its meetings for the past two months.
"We felt it was important for people to see their elected officials in action and sometimes people just can't make it to the meetings," Matela said. "People have said they are glad they can see what goes on at the meetings that they might not have been able to attend.
The village has a contract with Channel 12, a public access station, that allows them to air their meetings. There is no schedule for the showings.
