Big Ridge Road and Mill Road projects get funding
Congress has approved $1 million for the redevelopment of Big Ridge Road and $2 million for the redevelopment of Mill Road. The funds were included in the Fiscal Year 2005 Transportation Appropriations bill which passed Congress before Thanksgiving, according to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. It is expected that the bill will be sent to the president in the coming weeks for his signature.
$1 million in funding will contribute towards improving the deteriorating roadway that serves the residents and businesses of Spencerport and Ogden to access the NY Rt. 31 Corridor of NY Rt. 531. $2 million in funding will contribute towards improving the deteriorating roadway that serves the residents and businesses of Greece and Parma to access the Long Pond Road Corridor or NY Rt. 390, according to a press release.
The projects consist of making improvements (reconstructing to acceptable standards in order to maintain or improve safety and efficiency for all modes of transportation) to these highways of significance in Monroe County. Typical improvements will consist of the replacement of the road base and riding surface, improved drainage facilities, paved shoulders where applicable and curbs or gutters. In addition, adequate bicycle space and pedestrian amenities will be included where feasible.
