Pratt triple-double leads Rangers
Kacey Pratt scored the first triple-double of her varsity career to lead the Spencerport Rangers to a 57-50 victory over Hilton in the season opening girl's basketball game for both teams.
Pratt had 13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists - double figures in all three categories - leading to the triple-double. The Cadets jumped out to a 5-2 lead and went ahead again on two Casey Reinhardt free throws to start the second quarter before the Rangers found their offense. Spencerport outscored the Cadets 18-4 the remainder of the quarter to take a 28-15 halftime lead. Angela Bopp scored six of her 12 points in the quarter for the Rangers.
Spencerport opened up a 21-point lead after the third quarter before sitting the regulars for most of the fourth quarter. Hilton used a 10-0 run to close within 12 points early in the fourth and got the lead down to single digits on a Lindsay Carr three-pointer with 1:15 left to play. Chelsie Kleeh also knocked down a three-pointer with 12 seconds left, but the Rangers won the free throw battle down the stretch.
Andrea Kazmierski led all scorers with 16 points for the Rangers while Bopp added seven rebounds. Hilton was paced by Carr with 11 points with Emilie Welch scoring nine and Reinhardt and Heather Haight each adding eight points.
