Raiders open conference
competition in convincing fashion
The women's basketball team opened up conference play with a convincing 87-77 win over Notre Dame College.
In a game where the Lady Raiders led by as much as 19, Roberts capitalized on Notre Dame turn-overs (23) and points in the paint (50) to defeat the Falcons of Notre Dame. Roberts came out red hot shooting 61.3 percent from the field as they opened up a 45-32 halftime lead. In the second half they cooled off to shoot 43.6 percent but maintained the double digit lead to end the game.
Roberts was led by junior guard Judy Wright (Syracuse, NY) with 37 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. On the season she is averaging 24.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Fellow guard Christine Hunter (Syracuse, NY) dropped in 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists on the night to improve her season average to 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
With the win, Roberts improves to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in the American Mideast Conference. They are in action next at home on December 4 at 4 p.m. vs. Malone College.
