Eagles fly behind Halter's 29 points
Senior Christine Halter led all scorers with 29 points and added a game-high 13 rebounds as visiting Kendall defeated Byron-Bergen 54-46 in high school girl's basketball.
Eleven of Halter's points came in the fourth quarter as the Eagles extended a five point third quarter lead to the final eight points. Kendall led by as many as six points in the second quarter before the Bees received baskets from Stephanie Cummings and Jessica Smith to close to within two of the lead. Cummings then hit consecutive baskets in the final 90 seconds of the first half to tie the game 24-24 before Halter put in a lay-up in the final minutes to give Kendall a lead they would not relinquish.
The Eagles started the second half by outscoring Byron-Bergen 12-2 with Trisha D'Agostino, Halter, Sarah Gaylord and Lindsay Gaesser all contributing to the offense. The Bees pulled to within four points midway through the final quarter, but not closer.
Gaylord finished with ten points and 11 rebounds while D'Agostino had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists for Kendall. Alyssa D'Errico led the Bees with 13 points in spite of foul trouble; Chesley Fackelman had 12 points and Cummings added ten while Amanda Krol led the Bees with five rebounds.
Kendall improved to 2-1 while B-B lost their first game of the season to fall to 1-1.
