B-B receives transition grant

The Special Education Department at Byron-Bergen Central School District received a transition mini grant for $1,100 from the Rochester Transition Coordination site. The transition committee comprised of Donna Conway, Christina Bechle, Alana Stefanski, John Cummings and Chris Ariyaratnam developed a mini grant to assist students, parents and teachers with transition from high school to post graduate activities.

Transition planning is part of a child's individual education plan. Transition planning begins at age 12 and can go through age 21. The grant will help establish a district plan that will include resources for students entering either the workforce or college/vocational programs.
