Byron-Bergen students compete in the Empire State Games

On October 15 Byron-Bergen Elementary School and Middle School students competed in the Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged. The games were held at SUNY Brockport.

The following students participated: Melody Gorrow, Kindergarten; Chase Carter and Aaries Fitzsimmons, first grade; Amanda Dodson, Allen Fiedler, Jordan Grimmer and Jordan Sloat, third grade; Cory Sprague, Lauren Stumpf and Collin Wickings, fifth grade; Mathew Dougherty, sixth grade; Casey Ivison and Jordan Brege, eighth grade. The students were recognized in a ceremony held in the Elementary School on October 20. Below is a list of all Byron-Bergen medal winners and the events in which they competed.

Gold medals: Ivison - 200 Meter Run and Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course); Brege - Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course); Doughtery - 100 Meter Run and Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course) Sprague - Shot Put and Discus; Stumpf - 60 Meter Dash, Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course), Distance Kick, Club Throw, and Soft Discus; Wickings - Distance Kick; Dodson - Distance Kick, Shot Put, and Club Throw, Fiedler - Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course), Discus and Shot Put; Grimmer - 60 Meter Dash, Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course), Distance Kick, and Long Jump; Sloat - 60 Meter Dash, Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course) Distance Kick, Club Throw, and Long Jump; Carter - 60 Meter Dash, Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course) and Distance Kick; Fitzsimmons - 60 Meter Dash, Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course), Distance Kick, Long Jump and Club Throw; Gorrow - Club Throw, Distance Kick, and Soft Shot.

Silver Medals: Ivison - Discus and Long Jump; Brege - 200 Meter Run; Dougherty - Discus, Shot Put and Long Jump; Sprague - 100 Meter Run and Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course); Wickings - 60 Meter Dash; Dodson - 60 Meter Dash and Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course); Fiedler - 100 Meter Run and Long Jump; Grimmer - Club Throw; Carter - Long Jump and Club Throw.

Bronze Medals: Ivison - Shot Put; Brege - Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus; Sprague - Long Jump; Wickings - Ambulatory Slalom (Obstacle Course), Long Jump and Club Throw.
