C-C Wrestling tams wins tournament

The Churchville-Chili Varsity Wrestling team took first place in the Campbell Savona Holiday Wrestling Tournament held the weekend of December 11-12. This was a major breakthrough for a wrestling team that has struggled in recent years, according to team supporters. The team had 13 place winners and 5 finalists. Chris Vitale (125 lbs.), Bill Breon Jr. (160 lbs.) and Mike Castro (275 lbs.) all placed first for the Saints; Paul Salmin (171 lbs.) and Antoine Green (189 lbs.) also added second place efforts. The top three team scores were Churchville-Chili 160.5 pts.; Williamson, Pennsylvania 159 pts.; Bath-Haverling 158.5 pts. Previously this year the team placed third in the Demeco Trainor Duals and fourth at the Byron-Bergen tourney where this photo was taken. Submitted photo.
