Newsmakers for the week of

Kristen Lawrenz, a 1996 graduate of Brockport High School and a December 1999 graduate of Gannon University in Erie PA, has completed her degree as a doctor of chiropractic and graduated December 12 from the New York State School of Chiropractic.

Her parents are Kathie and Carl Lawrenz of Carolin Drive, Brockport.


Matthew Montanaro of Rochester has been named to the dean's list for the first quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A fifth year student in RIT's College of Science, he is studying physics. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and was awarded the "John Wiley Jones Outstanding Students In Science Award" for physics.

Montanaro, son of Nick and Romea Montanaro, is a 2001 graduate of Aquinas Institute.


Robbi Hess, reporter and editorial assistant for Westside News, Inc., won first place in a romance writing contest. Her winning story was published in the January/February 2005 issue of "The Writer's Journal."

Hess has been writing fiction for about five years.

She and her husband, Tim, a USPS letter carrier in Spencerport, live in Albion with their two children, Nicholas and Alexa.


Andrew Montanaro, of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for the first quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology. A first-year student in the College of Liberal Arts, he is studying metal working arts. Montanaro, son of Nick and Romea Montanaro, is a 2004 graduate of Aquinas Institute and an AP scholar.


Approximately 250 students were candidates for December 2004 degrees from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Students from this area are: Ronald Prate of Brockport; Christopher Marquis of Churchville; Russell Dimino of Hilton; Katherine Hynes and Kristen Rowland, both of Spencerport.
