Blue Devils crush Saints

Brockport won all but two matches - seven by pin - in a 66-12 wrestling victory over Churchville-Chili.

Brett Schickler was trailing 5-3 in his match at 119 lb. before rebounding with a third period pin. John-Martin Cannon (130 lb.), Josh Oyer (135 lb.), Eric Gallert (140 lb.), Justin James (145 lb.) and Erik Schuth (152 lb.) registered consecutive victories by pin. Bohdan Basisty also pinned his man at 171 lb. in 1:52. Anthony Sargent won a tight 2-1 match at 160 lb. by holding on to an ankle for the final seconds. Alex Nwaehungor also was victorious at 275 lb. 7-3. Trevor Irwin, Aaron Raymer and Vitaly Basisty all won via forfeit.

The Saints' Antoine Green tied the match at 6-6 with a pin at 2:46 at 215 lb. before the Blue Devils won the next four matches; two by forfeit. Freshman Chris Vitale was the only other winner for the Saints by injury default at 125 lb. C-C features 11 freshmen or sophomores on their roster and finished first in the Campbell-Savona tournament.
