Support group for parents begins winter sessions
Winter sessions for a new support group designed to help parents share parenting strategies will start January 13 at the Family Support Center at Spencerport Central School. The program, Better Days Ahead, is a joint effort of the Family Support Center and the Mental Health Association. The 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday evening sessions meet every other week (once in February and June) in Room 15 of the district Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue. The free program is open to all families in the area, not just Spencerport residents. Parents may attend as many of the sessions as they want.
The group helps parents develop strategies for dealing with children and adolescents. Sessions often feature guest speakers who offer insights on various parenting topics.
The group meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month during the school year with monthly meetings planned for the summer. Free childcare is provided. For information or to register, call the Family Support Center at 349-5155.
The Family Support Center is a collaborative effort of the Spencerport Central School District, Town of Ogden and Village of Spencerport.
