Hilton Cadets fall to Batavia
Hilton's girl's volleyball team won the first game 28-26, but dropped the next three 19-25, 26-28, 13-25 in a loss to Batavia.
Down by three points in game one, the Cadets, following a time-out, rallied on several Blue Devil errors to tie the game at 26-26 before Ashley Johnson had a kill and an ace leading to the Cadet win.
A late 7-3 Hilton run including kills by Jonelle Redhead and Becca Ritchie in the second game wasn't enough to overcome a ten-point deficit. The third game featured 12 score ties including every point between twenty and twenty-six. Ritchie, Kristin Schue and Laura Stanton all contributed kills late in the game before Batavia scored the final two points to win.
The final game saw the Blue Devils jump out to a 13-1 lead and never looking back. "We're struggling a bit creating offense, but we played the best we have this year," said Hilton head coach Andy Forman. "Batavia is one of the strongest teams we face."
Junior captain Becca Ritchie led three categories with eight kills, eight blocks and 12 digs while Mary Leo contributed six kills and 11 digs for the 2-8 Cadets.
