C-C's Sullivan within six of mark
Katie Sullivan scored a game-high 19 points to lead Churchville-Chili to a 56-35 girl's basketball victory over Hilton for the Saints ninth consecutive win. Sullivan's offensive output gives her 1,094 career points - just six points shy of Saints all-time leader Joanna Patalano's mark of 1,100.
The game was tied at six and the Saints led by just five points at the end of the first quarter before exploding for 34 points over the next 16 minutes while limiting the Cadets to just ten. Sullivan scored 12 of her points in the third quarter including two three-pointers.
Hilton outscored the Saints in the final stanza 14-6 due in part to a pair of three-pointers from Kim Berntson. Emilie Welch kept the game close early scoring seven of her 12 points in the first quarter; two of those baskets coming on offensive rebound putbacks.
Chatanie Williams was also in double figures for the Saints with 12 points to go with 10 rebounds and six blocks, the eighth consecutive double-double for the junior center. Brittany Williams had seven points and Colleen Montgomery added four. For Hilton, Welch had 12 rebounds to go with her team-high 12 points while Lindsay Carr had five points and Christina Ward and Casey Reinhardt each added four.
Churchville-Chili improved their record to 11-3 after a 2-3 start to the season. Hilton dropped to 2-10 with wins over North Tonawanda and Kenmore West.
