Genesee, Monroe, Orleans receive
child support program funding
The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced that counties in the Rochester area will receive nearly $1.4 million in funding for child support programs. The funds are part of a $30 million award received by New York for meeting and exceeding performance benchmarks in the collection of support payments. New York's award represents a 42 percent increase over prior year incentives.
Payments to counties are based on each district's percentage share of statewide collections. Districts must reinvest the award funds in their child support programs to continue improving the effectiveness of their programs.
Annual child support collections were $1.44 billion in 2004, a 135% increase over 1994 collections.
The awards by county are: Genesee, $75,247; Monroe, $805,692; and Orleans, $53,776.
