Bright Raven Gymnasts
win in Utica
Bright Raven Gymnasts traveled to Utica recently to compete in the 2005 Leatherstocking Invitational.
In the Level 5 competition for gymnasts ages 10 to 11, Amber Harewood of Chili earned first place all around (37.225), first on beam (9.575), second on floor (9.35), second on vault (9.00) and third on bars (9.30). Kristina Nupp of Churchville was first on floor exercise (9.40) in the same division.
In the Level 5 competition for gymnasts ages 12 and over, Shannon Fitzgerald of Chili placed third on vault (8.80). The Bright Raven Level 5 team was awarded second place in a field of seven teams with a team score of 175.675. Other gymnasts contributing to the Bright Raven team effort included: Alyssa Morone, Megan Saraceni and Holly Garbacz of Chili, Amanda Goldfischer and Mary Wittman of Greece, Emily Arnold of Gates, Nicole Bonferraro of Brockport and Helen Zickl of Batavia.
In the Level 9 Senior competition, Justine Picciano of Henrietta captured first place in floor exercise scoring a 9.50.
In the Level 8 competition for gymnasts ages 15 and over, Julie Mingoea of Spencerport placed second on vault with an 8.85. Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit won first place on balance beam (9.45), second place on the uneven parallel bars (9.25), third place in vaulting (9.30) and third all around (36.925) in the Level 7 competition for gymnasts ages 12 to 13.
