Residents celebrate 49th wedding anniversary
On Wednesday, January 19, Victor and Nilde Degregorio celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary at Hilton East Assisted Living. Victor surprised Nilde with a dozen roses as residents of Hilton East gathered to join their celebration.
Victor met Nilde 56 years ago in a small town in Southern Italy called Petacciato. Nilde, only twelve at the time, was the girl next door. They met and became good friends. Within seven years, Nilde walked down the isle of San Rocco Church and married Victor.
Victor and Nilde converted their house into a tailor shop and began servicing their small village. They specialized in sewing and designing suits. They worked as tailors until 1962, when Victor received permission to come to America as a skilled tailor.
Victor and Nilde have two children. Their son, Nick Degregorio, is a mechanic at Eastman Kodak Company. Their daughter, Anna Cellura, received her master's degree in social work, and worked ten years at Park Ridge Hospital before retiring. They have always enjoyed a close household, which made their recent anniversary a very special event for the whole family.
