Rangers fall to Eastridge
Spencerport outscored Eastridge 33-24 in the second and fourth quarters, but could not overcome a slow start in a 54-49 loss to the Lancers in boy's basketball on senior night.
Kyle Muir scored six of his eleven points in the second quarter as the Rangers came back from a nine-point deficit to close to within three points at half-time.
The Lancers opened the second half with six unanswered points and opened a 10-point lead midway through the third quarter. Spencerport started the final quarter strong offensively with a free throw from Doug Potter and three field goals from Mark Miller. A long three-pointer and a free throw from Chris Albano along with another Miller basket pulled the Rangers to within three points with 1:25 left in the game, but the Lancers held on for the victory.
Miller led Spencerport with 17 points and two blocks to go with five rebounds. Muir led the team with12 boards to go with 11 points and Albano scored 11 points with five assists. Joe Militello also handed out five assists for the Rangers.
Militello, Albano, Nick Droegmoeller and Miller all played in their final regular season home game. Spencerport is expected to be seeded 10th in Class AA for the upcoming Section Five tournament beginning next week.
Before the game, the Rangers presented a check to the American Cancer Society for $4,290. The money was raised during the Coaches vs. Cancer "Coach Chow" Tourney in late December and brings the 8-year total money raised to $37,190.
