Hilton Church sends ministry team to Honduras
Parma Christian Fellowship is sending its fifth team to Morazan, Honduras, during February. The church sponsors a private school in Morazan, called Escuela Nueva York (New York School). The school is bilingual and provides education for grades one to six. The team, consisting of Joshua Merrill, Amy Billings, Jill Hogue, Myke Merrill and Mark Sitterly will be teaching swimming lessons in the new full-size pool installed at the school, offering a Bible School program and helping the director, William Pusey, and the teaching staff set up a "colejo," high school. Honduras only recently required its smaller towns to provide secondary education, and Escuela Nueva York is designed to expand based on the needs of the community. Approximately 120 students are enrolled. Pusey, the school's owner and director, is the son of Parma resident Eleanor Murdock.
The congregation of Parma Christian Fellowship has been supporting Escuela Nueva York and sending teams since 2001.
Merrill is a junior at Hilton High School and is making his second trip to Honduras. Billings is a sophomore at Roberts Wesleyan College, and is making her third trip. Hogue is a graduate in physical therapy from University of Hartford, and is making her first trip. Merrill is pastor of Parma Christian Fellowship and is making his fifth trip. Sitterly is a fabricator with Precise Corp, and is making his fourth trip. For information on the church call 392-5792.
