Fred J. Leverenz, life-long Hamlin resident
Fred Leverenz died February 18, 2005 at the age of 86. He was born in Hamlin on June 3, 1918 and was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church. Mr. Leverenz sang in the male chorus at St. John Church from the age of 15 until his later years. He spent 10 years with the Rochester Chapter Barber Shop Quartet and Chorus

In 1936, Mr. Leverenz became a member of the Hamlin Fire Department, where he served as a volunteer fireman for 22 years. He served as Chief for the fire department from 1953 to 1954. Mildred Unterborn married Fred Leverenz on June 8, 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church.

Mr. Leverenz worked 31 years at the Hamlin Highway Department, beginning in 1945 as a laborer. Later he became foreman, a position he held for several years. He successfully ran for the Highway Superintendent position, serving his first three-year term in 1970, retiring December 31, 1977.

A Graveside Service was held February 18 at Grove Place Cemetery.

•O'Sullivan, Daniel J., February 20, 2005. Survived by his loving wife, Joan E.; sons, Patrick G. (Mary Santiago) and Daniel C. (Heather) O'Sullivan; brothers, Michael (Julie) and Bernard (Bernice) O'Sullivan; grandchildren, Raymond and Nicole, R. Seamus and Haley O'Sullivan; several nieces and nephews. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.

Funeral Services were held February 25 at the Vay-Schleich and Meeson Funeral Home. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Boys Town or Masses offered in his memory.


BROCKPORT

•Allen, Alma, age 84, died February 21, 2005 at the Orleans County Nursing Home following a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband Franklin. She is survived by her children, Ashley (Sharon) Allen of Brockport, Mary Finnegan of Albion, Sharon Culzer of Pennsylvania, Lisa (Craig) Passarell of Holley; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Larkin of Albion.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 28 at 3 p.m. at the Christopher-Mitchell Funeral Home, Inc., Holley. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.


•Welch, Margaret L. (Sheldon), February 15, 2005, age 101. Predeceased by her husbands, George Sheldon, Arthur Welch; son, Douglas Sheldon; grandchildren, Kathy Bodine and Pamela Hankinson. Survived by her children Joseph (Joyce) Sheldon, George (Marlene) Sheldon, Leona (Marvin) Hankinson; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

CHURCHVILLE

•Woolston, Lionel Lee, 83, died January 17, 2005 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Maryland, after a heart attack. He was a mechanical engineer at the U.S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory, White Oak, Silver Spring, Maryland, for over 45 years. He had several patents and a number of Navy awards. He was a Naval Officer during World War II. He was the primary contributor to the concept and design of SUBROC. This is a submarine to submarine rocket.

He was born April 23, 1921 in Churchville. He was valedictorian of his high school, Class of '39, Churchville High School. He graduated summa cum laude, at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.

Since his retirement, he became an expert on Revocable Living Trusts. His first wife, Ellen Ellsworth Woolston, died in January 1955. They are survived by one daughter, Ronda (James) Carrico of Olney, Maryland. He is survived by his second wife of 48 years, Marcella Melland Woolston; one son, Stephen Woolston of Germantown, Maryland and a stepson, Joseph Kriemelmeyer of Dunkirk, Maryland; five grandchildren, Michael and Stacy Carrico, Lauren Woolston, Samuel and Liana Kriemelmeyer; two great grandchildren; brother, Dan Woolston, Clarksville, Maryland and sister, Loraine Hiltz, Binghamton. He will be buried in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Maryland.


HAMLIN

•Edwards, Mark Vincent Jr., February 17, 2005. He is survived by his parents, Olga and Mark V. Edwards Sr.; his brothers and sisters, Raquel, Magan, Rigaberto, Carmen, Tyler, McKenzie and Tamara; maternal grandfather, Jose Saalva; paternal grandmother, Tamara Hoyt; and grandfather, William Edwards; paternal great-grandmother, Jewel Taylor.

•Klejment, Alfred P., Jr. "Paul," Suddenly, Saturday, February 19, 2005, at age 43. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Anna Klejment; daughters, Stephanie and Rebecca Klejment; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ivan and Maria Stanislawsky; mother, Helene Klejment; sister, Patty Bakewicz; brother, Anthony (Sarah) Klejment; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Alfred P. Klejment, Sr. and sister, Jackie Klejment. Paul was the proud owner of Paul's Service.

•Leverenz, Fred J., February 18, 2005, age 86. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred "Midge;" his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Thomas Dobson; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sande) Dobson, Todd (Channon) Dobson, Richard Hain, Shelley (John) Spamer, Wendy Sue Hain; great-grandchildren, Adam, Sean, Amber, Trevor, Tyler, Jeremy, Amanda, Rachel and Alexandra; his brother, Luther (Charlene) Leverenz; sister, Helen Baase; sister-in-law, Mary Leverenz; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. •Rankin, Charles, M., February 22, 2005. Predeceased by two sons, Daniel and David Rankin. Charles is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jean; his children, Charles Jr. "Joe" (Susan) Rankin, Christopher (Julie) Rankin, Carrie (Robert) Birdsall, James Hammer, Roxanne Hammer, Dreama (John) Sorce, Michael (Maryann) Rankin, Gary (Delora) Rankin, Kim (Leslie) Rankin, and Larry Rankin; many grandchildren and great-grand-children; sisters, Patricia Mallard and Beverly (Bob) Martinez; nieces and nephews.

•Buckland, Jay F., Age 81, February 20, 2005. Predeceased by wife Velma in 1996. Survived by sons, John (Mary Ann) Buckland of Kent, James Buckland and Robert (Elizabeth) Buckland, both of Rochester; and also by his daughter, Mary (Richard) Jewsbury of Kendall; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; also survived by his beloved friend, Norma Sheldon.

•Wainwright, Ruth A., (Wilson), February 18, 2005 at age 75. She was predeceased by her husband, Virgil A. Wainwright. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Theodore Robak of North Chili; granddaughters Rachel (Ian) MacDonald and Sarah Robak; great grandson Cody MacDonald; brother Bobby (Betty) Wilson of Virginia; sister-in-law, Pauline Wilson of Australia; many nieces and nephews.

•Howe, David D., February 9, 2005 at age 71. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose in 2003. He is survived by his children, Pat (Leslie), Greg (Teresa) and Ben (Lidia) Howe; his granddaughters, Andrea, Carrie and Danielle. David was formerly from Norwich, New York. He was a Korean War Army Veteran, a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.
