Hilton students bring Picasso to life through Masks and Mime
Fourth grade students at Northwood Elementary School have been studying the artwork of Pablo Picasso with the help of Young Audiences artist-in-residence Carlton Van Pyrz of Lancaster. Students created their own 3 D "Picasso Inspired" masks and created characters. With the help of Van Pyrz, their "Picasso People" began to come to life through movement and mime according to art teacher Laurie Steele. This week-long residency consisted of daily workshops where the students developed their characters individually and in ensemble groups cooperated to create a storyline acting out their characters through movement and mime only. Students will be sharing their performances with other classes.
